Jem and the Holograms
I made this cake for the most Rad Collaboration there is Back to the 80's Sugar Love!
All of my childhood was in the 80's, so I love almost all of the catoons of this decade, but one of my favorites was Jem and the Holograms, so rad and the most 80s looking of all. As the opening song said truly, truly, truly outrageous!!
"We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies."
I was so happy to be part of the In Their Honor - A Memorial Day Sugar Collaboration where we remember all of those brave men and women who selfishly laid down their lives to defend our country. I present to you my contribution.
A Painted Easter
This cake was made as part of A Painted Easter collaboration, my very first collaboration. With this cake I wanted to represent the secular and spiritual sides of Easter, by making it adorable and honoring of Jesus. From the hand-painted cake stand, made to match the painting on the cake itself, to the rays of the sun shining on the cross this cake was meant to be a reminder of what Easter is all about.
This is my contribution to The United Nation of Sugar Art Collaboration.
My piece was inspired by the hope of a new day when no baby will be born HIV positive. Represented by a sunrise in Africa and an expectant mother under a tree, sign of life.
On this collaboration a coalition of sugar artists came together to support The Global Fund in its fight against HIV, TB, and Malaria. We are so close to stopping the transmission of HIV from mother to child that me may actually have a Generation born without HIV!! But we are not there yet. Over 600 children are born EVERYDAY with HIV. Please support the cause by donating to The Global Fund.
Fairy Autumn Blossom
She's the piece I made for the Sugar Myths and Fantasies Collaboration. I was inspired by a lovely picture I found online, I loved her expression and I new right away that I needed to make her on sugar form.
